Does Novelon Help In Treating PCOD?

Hello Doctor, I got married 1 year ago, and now am facing a problem with PCOD and having a very irregular periods so doctor as consulted to take novelon for 3 months course but I would like to get pregnant so can you please suggest me will this novelon with help me to get pregnant once I complete the 3 month course

Hi,

1. Novelon (ethinyl estradiol + desogestral) is used for contraception and in the treatment of irregular periods and in your case is caused by associated PCOD

2. It must be remembered that we have to treat the cause (PCOD) and not the symptom (irregular periods). Although Novelon can correct irregular periods, it will not help you get pregnant unless you correct the pathology

For that, the following is my opinion:
1. Also make sure to exclude low thyroid (hypothyroidism), since can be cause and effect of one other

2. Avoid fatty food, curd, late night work, soybean, milk, mustard oil, cabbage and take moong (green) dal, saindhav namak, rice/coconut water, vegetable soups
