Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am detoxing from oxycontin. Over the last year I ve reduced my use from 80 mil. to 10. 3 days ago I misplaced the bottle of 10 s so I took 2 Norco for a brutal headache and ended up sleeping through the day. To my surprise the worst symptom I ve had after giving up the oxy, is the creepy crawley that people get with R.L.S.. I have experienced this a few times in the last year during the first few weeks after I dropped my oxy dose and would like to know if this is actually a withdrawal symptom or if I might be experiencing symptoms from pinched nerves in my spine or something else. I d love any help I can get. Thanks--leg crazy in Ca.
Oxycontin withdrawal should cause the opposite, less sleep. When people are withdrawing from opioids, they usually have difficulties with sleep and do not get sleepy. A pinched nerve or other neurological issues shouldn't cause fatigue either. The sleepiness may be from something else.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Timothy Wong, General & Family Physician
