Suggest Treatment For Anxiety And Sleep Disorder

i have had a cervical fusion (c5-c7) 2months ago and have been taking oxycontin for that long with endone for break through pain. The oxycontin is now 10mg and the endone is 5mg. I am now trying to ween myself off these medications but whenever i skip a day i get real anxious and cant sleep. My pain level i think could maybe managed by a non narcotic but can get really uncomfortable at times. Could you please give me a schedule to follow to try and ween off this medication and also tell me if this low dose is in anyway going to harm my health / immune system. Thank you

Hi,
Thanks for writing

Oxycontin and Endone are opioids, and if you miss a dose, you might get withdrawal symptoms. Moreover, they might also prove to be addictive. Hence, a professional help is needed in order to taper off these medicines. Consult your treating physician for the same.

Hope that helps,
Dr A Rao
