Does Parkinson S Medication Cause Exhaustiveness And Sleepiness?

My husband is taking Sinemet, recently diagnosed with Parkinson s, he is on 5 tabs a day. This is the second day and he is exhausted, while on 4 per day he was good. 70% reduction in tremors. Is this sleepy condition a result of the increased medication. He has only been on this med since last Saturday? And yes we are seeing a Neurologist..

I have gone through your query and I understand your concerns.

Symptoms that your husband is experiencing are Sinemet's side effects.
These are Sinemet's side effects:
- General weakness or fatigue.
- Drowsiness.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Dry mouth.
- Low blood pressure (hypotension) or high blood pressure (hypertension).
- Hallucinations, anxiety and depression.

In order to avoid side effects of Sinemet, an additional medicine is recommended to patients that suffer from Parkinson's Syndrome.
It is Amantadine(Symmetrel). Except good effects that this medicine has in treating Parkinson's Syndrome, it will avoid Sinemet's side effects.

Your husband should contact a neurologist to discuss about the treatment.
