Does Restasis Cause Severe Itching On The Eyelids?

My eyelids are so itchy it is maddening. I finally figured out that it is from the Restasis. I have not used it in 2 days now. Is there anything safe I can put on my eyelids to ease the itching. It is incredible, but somehow I am not scratching. Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for your query.

Restasis used in the treatment of dry eye. It is known to cause burning sensation in the eye. It also causes itching sensation.

If you are diagnosed with dry eye, it is not advisable to stop using Restasis. Wash your eyes frequently with luke warm water. This will help to reduce itching.

Kindly consult an ophthalmologist. He may consider the change of treatment according to your eye condition.

If you have any queries, feel free to ask.

Regards,
Dr Prathap Kumar
