Does Seroquel Cause Elevated Cholesterol Levels?

I am a 69 yr old female, weight 120 who exercises at gym 2-3 times a week. I am on 50 mg of Seroquel for help in sleeping, which is working well. About a yr I am on it. Could this be causing me to have high cholesterol? I always had good levels before. I eat lots of fruits & vegetables& am a high energy person. Everyone says I do not look close to my age. Is there anything else you might suggest? Thanks

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Seroquel can cause an increase in cholesterol in 7 to 18 % of persons who use it.
If your levels were previously normal prior to starting the seroquel then it is definitely possible that it is contributing to the problem.

If your fiber can be other wise increased by using whole grain foods and cereals then this may help.
If the levels are very high, you may need medication to help control them or switch the seroquel

I hope this helps
