Does TMJ Cause Swelling In Face?

does tmj mean any facial change always?i mean i dont know if i have but i know it can cause swelling...can swelling go away?and second can tmj gives you deformity ->(always)?like your jaw and face be bigger?and if it does can you treat it to come back in normal?i am scary from others people answer's

thanks for your query, i have gone through your query, ya any defects in TMJ can result in asymmetry, it can result in swelling if there is any infection in the joint like osteomyelitis.
the gross asymmetry of the face could be because of the increase in size of the condyle or ramus of the mandible which can be congenital(by birth) or secondary to trauma or any benign tumors. consult your oral physician and get the radiographs done to rule out all these pathologies. nothing to worry it can be treated with surgery. i hope my answer will help you. take care.
