Does Tretinoin Help To Treat Scarring And Fine Lines Around The Eyes?

Hi doc! I am a 43 year old woman who has lived with cystic acne since the age of twelve. Although breakouts are much less often now, I still suffer from the large cysts on my face . I have always thought that the scars made me look older so recently I had my dermatologist try tretinoin 0.01 gel for my skin. Will this also help me with old scarring and fine lines by my eyes? Thank you for your time!

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Tretinoin gel is a vitamin A derivative and it helps to reduce the scarring caused on skin due to any cause.
It will help to reduce the scars formed by cystic acne.
It will hep to lighten the fine lines also.
However, the definitive treatment for clearing fine lines is with cosmetic treatment like botox, dermal fillers etc.
While using tretinoin, please take care to use it at night only.
Exposure to sun can lead to hyperpigmenetation or darkening of the region where the gel is applied.
