I have been intentionally losing weight...exercising...intermittent fasting...and eating a high fat/ketogenic diet. Is it possible...or likely...that higher ketones from a ketogenic diet might impact blood sugar tests...OR A1c numbers? A recent retinal scan shows ZERO evidence of diabetes...yet my Dr. recently took a serious of blood tests...and wants me to come in to talk about my A1c.
Ketogenic diet is good to control blood sugar. But in a diabetic patient also ketogenic diet may respond by decreased weight and decreased blood sugar and decreased insulin resistance etc.
But in a few patients not respond to ketogenic diet but what is the proper cause for this not studied. In this type of patients insulin requirement also increased. Very minimal blood sugar needs maximum insulin requirement. So please consult your physician, he will examine and treat you accordingly to your Hba1c and your body type and insulin requirement.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
