Does A Ureteral Stent Cause Severe Backache During Urination?

I have been diagnosed with kidney stones and today I had a stent put in place. However, the lower back pain is EXTREME when I pass urine since the procedure. Is this normal? I am having a procedure on Thursday to pulverize the stones as one is too large to pass naturally.

Hi,
Welcome to Healthcaremagic.com.

I had gone through your question I can understand your concern about your uriter pain.

Yes the stunt can lead to pain sometimes. As the stunt may cause raised pressure above or below potion of normal tissue it can lead to the pain during micturation (passing the urine).

You need to convey the problem to your doctor because sometimes if there is any obstruction it may lead to hydronephrosis that can be dangerous to your kidney.

Hope my answer will help you and visit us back if you have any further queries.

Regards
Dr Muzaffer Hussain Parray.
