Does Arteriovenous Malformation Impact The Function Of Neurotransmitters In The Brain?

Hello, I was wondering if someone, who is a neurologist, can answer a few questions I have regarding Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM) and its effect on the brain. Can AVM impact the function of neurotransmitters in the brain? If so, then are there any specific neurotransmitters that are most susceptible to this condition? What kind of health problems can result from this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

AV malformation doesn’t affect the function of neurotransmittera in your brain. It might get enlarged in some cases and produce compression on your brain matter and cause symptoms. You can get an MR angiogram to get an exact nature of the lesion.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
