Could Rapid Resting Heart Rate Be Caused By A Large Arteriovenous Malformation In The Left Forearm?
Could a rapid resting heart rate (100-130 bpm) be caused by a large arteriovenous malformation in the left forearm? I ve had a arteriovenous malformation in my arm since a child, I m now 45 and in the past 8 mo I ve had rapid heart beats (I had a stress test , no heart problems). And in the last 6 mo the arteriovenous malformation in my arm has grown to the size of a couple of golf balls. 45 year old woman, diabetic - 12 years
Having a rapid heart rate from an arteriovenous malformation is unlikely. It is far from the heart and the area of malformation is small to cause any generalised symptoms. You may get evaluated for your blood pressure, anaemia and thyroid functions. These are the commonest causes of rapid heart rate. Some times heart rate can increase due to autonomic nervous system stimulation and this can also happen with diabetes.
There are many other causes of rapid heart rate which need to be carefully assessed by your doctor.
Hope this helps
