Hi am a 55 year old female 1.58 meters tall Weight 63 kilograms. I have suffered from Chronic Asthma since the age of 23. I have just been diagnosed with a sudden onset of cactaracs. In April 2011 I had an eye screening test done and there was no sign of cataracs. I had another eye test done today as my vision suddenly become blurry over the last 6 weeks. I had a Diabetic screening test done today as well and the reading indicated no sign of Diabetes The reading was 5.2 mm01/L. I have been referred to an Ophthalmologist for further investigation. I noticed on the Internet that there are some cases mentioned where the sudden onset of Cataracs are directly related to Asthma Medication. Please can you give me some feedback in this regard? I am using the Beclate 200 hfa inhaler approximately two per day (although I sometimes skip a day)
Hello It seems from the history that you are having chronic asthma and on treatment forsame. The sudden onset of cataract is not directly related to asthma but it can be as a result ofside effect of steroids used for trtreatment of asthma. Since you are using beclate, a steroid this can be a side effect of this drug.
