Does Atmospheric Heat Affect The Body Differently As Per One S Age?

When my husband works outside in the heat for even short periods of time now he gets a little nauseated with shortness of breath and feels like he might pass out. This is out of character for him because he has always worked very hard and done yard work. He is 59 and generally in good health. Do some people at different ages just get to the point heat affects them differently?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I am of the opinion that your husband should have an Echocardiogram done. I would focus more on CVS. We have somehow varied tolerance to heat individual to individual basis but any sudden increase or decrease seems unlikely. Keep him hydrated with ORS.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
