Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Blood And Mucus From Rectum And Diarrhea Indicate Irritable Bowel Syndrome?
have blood and mucus from rectum along with intermittent diarhea or lose stools. Cramping goes along with it. I have had an upper and lower endoscopy with a Celiac disease biopsy. Everything was clear and my colon was not inflamed. The GI dr. said it was a bowel functioning disorder. Is that what IBS is? What do you think? I know I have hemorroids at times as well.
I have reviewed your question, passing a mucus secretion with no other different symptoms can be due to diet or nonspecific reason. Also, passing mucus secretion in stool doesn't indicate any direct illness until and unless it is proved. It can be IBS, however, that doesn't cause the passing of stool.
In my opinion, the stool should be sent for microscopic examination to rule out any possible protozoa infection, else it's nothing to worry.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Akhtarhusain,
