Does Blood In Ear Piercing Need Medical Attention?
my daughter has had her ears pierced for 15 years. Last night after removing her earrings from her right ear. The ear is raw around the piercing with blood oozing from it. We used Peroxide to clean it and Neosporin. should I take her into the Doctor?
In reference to clinical history of your daughter for oozing of blood from piercing site of ear lobule, though her ear was pierced about 15 years back. Here I would like to tell you that spontaneous bleeding may be because of some local cause of ear lobule itself or it may be presentation of some systemic disease.
Possible local causes are-
1- Trauma by ear ring (because bleeding site is raw).
2- Allergic dematitis.
You may give some anti inflammatory tab to your daughter along with local application of cream containing antibiotic + anti fungal + steroid. If bleeding is due to above factors you will get good response but if any systemic disease is active behind it than consultation with your doctor will become essential.
Regards.
