Hi,

The contraceptive implant is a small rod which can be placed under the skin in someone's upper arm is used in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies from unprotected sexual intercourses for long period. But like other medications this device has some side effects of its own. Numbness or tingling may occur at the site where the implant is inserted and may radiate to the other side of the body.

So you may experience tingling sensation in your arm after the insertion of implant on it and which may radiate to your fingers due to the local anesthetic. It is not uncommon. Local antibiotic ointment can be applied at the implant site but it is not mandatory. Keeping the implant area dry for 24 hours is important after the insertion of implant. It is recommended to keep adhesive bandage on the implant area for 3-5 days after the insertion of implant.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
