Does Colon Cleansing Reduce The Effectiveness Of Seasonale Contraceptive?

Good evening, I would like to know if colon cleansing will affect my birth control? I m considering in doing a colonic hydrotherapy and also drinking a colon cleanse after that. I m on the birth control generic version of seasonale and I really would not want the cleansing to affect anything. I have IBS - C and I just want to make sure all is safe. Thank you. Delila V.

Welcome To HCM & Thanks For Asking Your Query Here

however colon cleanser do not interact with your Birth control (BC) pill but there is a risk of incomplete absorption of your BC

I would suggest either of two things:
a) Do not take your BC on the day you do your colon cleanse and take 2 pills the following day, then resume as normal.

b) Take your BC as normal, use backup contraception for 7 days after the colon cleanse (we would recommend using extra method of contraception for the remainder of your cycle).

you can always consult with your dr for any doubt with whatever medicine you are taking
