Does Consumption Of Nestle Malted Milk Powder Drink Cause Hives In A Child?
Good morning, my granddaughter has been covered in a dreadful rash for days - she is 8 years old. Doctor said yesterday it was hives. She has been having anti-histamine tabs and I just gave her a bath in baking soda which has given her some relief. What is the chance that Nestle Malted Milk powder drink could be bringing this condition on. She has just been having it in her milk for one week and the rash has been with her for 3 days now. There is nothing else added to her diet in the past week. Thank you.
Hi Thanks for posting on HCM The rashes your grand daughter presents could be allergy to malt or to any other environmental allergen. However, since something new has recently be added to her diet, it is normal to think of malt allergy in the first place as allergy to malt has been described in many people. The best treatment to allergy is to avoid the allergen.I will therefor advise you try the following: -Stop giving her the malted milk and observe -Continue with anti-histamine -You may also give her a steroid like dexamethasone for a few days(like 5 days) -Bath her with an anti-antiseptic soap or solution like cyteal If symptoms persist, you see the Doctor for reevaluation and investigations. Hope this will help Best regards
