Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Cough Effect The Battery Life Of The Pacemaker?
My significant other has a history of cardiomyopathy with surgery at 34 years old. He is currently 56 years old and has a pacemaker. 6 months ago his pacemaker had a battery life of about 2 years. Now the cardiologist said it's battery life is 1-9 months. I assume he is "using" the pacemaker more frequently and that is why the battery life is diminishing so quickly. I have recently noticed he is coughing a lot more (a dry cough). His only medication is Lopressor. Could the cough be related to the pacemaker?
HI Thank for asking to HCM I can understand your problem, the battery life is nothing to take with the cough, or any other symptoms, hope this information helps you, have good day.
