Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have have a non malignant cyst removed from my breast years ago and was told that I had fibrocystic disease. However before he breast lump removal, I also had a lump removed from my wrist, and now I have another lump on my knee another on my elbow and have had one on my lower back checked by a doctor. Which he said it was just fatty tissue. I'm am trying to figure out if there is something in my diet that is causing these lumps. I'm a non smoker, and eat very healthy and exercise regularly.
Localized accumulation of fatty tissue are termed as LIPOMAS. There is no direct correlation between the diet and the formation of lipomas. The cause of lipomas is unknown. Your risk of developing this type of skin lump increases if you have a family history of lipomas.
These lipomas are benign (non cancerous) swellings and will not produce any symptoms. So, they are harmless. No treatment is generally required but for cosmetic purpose, in which case they can be excised.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
