Finasteride is a drug which is specifically prescribed for male pattern baldness (in medical terms androgenic alopecia). It should be used by adult men only. As per my knowledge this drug is probably the best available to treat male pattern hair loss and the only one to address the root of the problem. Now coming to side effects, several studies have shown its safety over long duration of administration. The dosage given (1 mg) is small and unlikely to cause side effects.Even in those cases where side effects were reported, the changes were found to be reversible. The most common side effects are erectile dysfunction followed by ejaculatory dysfunction and loss of libido. It has found to decrease the sperm count, semen volume and sperm motility. But these are reversible in most of the cases. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. If in case the aide effects occurs and persists then consult your doctor immediately. But i m sure if u had no problems relating to sexual function before starting fiansteride, these side effects if occurs is reversible after stopping the drug.
