Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is it common for children recovering from the flu to sleep a lot. My 10 year old son was diagnosed with the flu and strep throat last Tuesday. He was given tamiflu for the flu and antibiotics for the strep throat. He has been doing well, but the last several days, he has been sleeping too much. Last night he went to bed at 10pm and slept until 3:30 this afternoon. He did wake up about noon and went the bathroom and then climbed right back into bed and continued to sleep. I tried waking him up a couple of times, but he didn t want to get up. He really didn t respond much at all, just would roll over and never opened his eyes.
