Hi there I am a 31 year old female, 5'6" tall and I currently weigh between 215 and 220 depending on the day. (I swell) I was diagnosed with Hashimotos Thyroiditis in 2007 and have been on synthroid since. started out with minimum dose and am now at 175 mcg...I had a hysterectomy in 2009 and my thyroid went completely wonky...levels were all over the place, I was 130lbs and in 4 months had gained 50...seem to level out at 180 for a year and then boom up to 220lbs, which is where i sit. took 3 dosage increase to get things leveled out. In the summer of 2011 I had just recieved last increase and felt great for about 1 month...then back downhill, dr tested levels and all were normal. As i had been getting a lump in my throat he decided to do an ultrasound of the thyroid, which he says found that my thyroid was not smooth and has what looks like many small nodules typical of thyroiditis, and there was one nodule that might be around 1 cm and may have some calcium deposits? in it...but nothing too alarming. And that is where he left it. My question is, is this a typical finding with hashimotos, or should i be getting a more thorough evaluation done on these "nodules" ? I am concerned as no matter what I do the weight I have put on does not come off, no diet or exercise has worked and I have been at it for 2 years. I have 4 children and I am regularly fairly active, so could these nodules have something to do with my weight as well?
