Does Hereditary Amyloidosis Cause Numbness In Feet And Cold ?

I am 67 years old and have feet that are always cold and a slight numbness to both feet. I say a slight numbness because I can feel a pin prick but not pressure. I have had a podiatrist x-ray With no findings. I now wonder if I might have heritary amyloidosis as high lipid run in my family. I take simvastatin 20 mg daily and lisinopril 10mg daily. These two meds keep my lipids & HBP at recommended levels. My A1C results come back just fine. Can you suggest a treatment course or the type of specialist I should persue to treat the cold feet syndrome in particular.?, I Have tried niacin with no result. Also at 5 7 and 195 lbs I really need to loose about 30 of those pounds. Thank you for your time on this matter. Sincerely, James Wycoff Have

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

If I were your doctor, I would try a short course of vit E after consulting a urologist. If this does not help you, I would refer you to a neurologist for further investigations and management.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.
Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
