Does Inhaling Burnt Polyester Fumes Affect The Lungs?
I used a microfiber cloth 79% polyester, 21% nylon) to clean the wax off a ski waxing iron several times (120-130 degrees F) It was only quick swipes but the iron kept smoking. I thought it was the wax, but now I think it s polyester that is now on the iron. Have I put my lungs at risk? I now realize I should have used a paper towel to wipe the iron.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Any micro-particle you inhale will definitely go to the alveoli and get stuck there; this category of ailment is called restrictive lung disease which occurs very slowly. You should take precaution followed by health check-ups every year.
I hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have any further questions.
