Does Jaw Bone Healing Take Time If The Patient Chews On Soft Food?
is there any way to slow down jaw bone healing? i got jaw surgery almost 6 weeks ago but i've been chewing soft food for almost 2 weeks now.. i haven't had any pain and i haven't supposed to be chewing. but i still feel the indention in my jaw where there's no bone.. could me chewing be slowing down the healing process? or does it just take longer for the bone to replenish?
I have gone through your query and will try my best to resolve it..
As per your complain as it is now 6 weeks of having jaw bone surgery done, so by now initial healing must have taken place and you can now eat soft foods without any worries...
As far as indent in the jaw bone is concerned, the jaw bone can take about 6 months to heal completely so do not worry about it.. Bone formation does not occur soon and is a slow occuring process, so you should relax and be patient..
You can go for regular follow up x rays so that progress of healing can be monitored..
At times bone graft can be placed to compensate for bone loss or bony defect..
Hope this information helps..
Regards..
