Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 36 year old female who has never had a blood pressure problem till now. My b/p is 140/ 105, it varies higher at times. I have had a back ache that wakes me up while sleeping when I have to go urinate. Could I have a kidney problem that could be causing the high blood pressure?
Welcome to HCM. I'm sorry that you are experiencing such symptoms. I will try to explain in understandable way my recommandations.
High blood pressure in majority of times has an unknown cause (essencial hypertension). Even in your group age it can be a essencial hypertension. I would like to know if those values were accidental finding, just one time, or you always have high values of blood pressure?
If the essencial hypertension is not the case, than the most common causes of high blood pressure are kidney issues. So, I recommend to do initially an ultrasound of the kidneys, evaluation of renal arteries, complete blood count, urinalysis and biochemistry lab work ( urea, creatinine ).
Feel free for additional questions. I hope my answer was helpful. Best regards.
