Does Ligament Tear On Right Knee Need Surgery?

I had a legament tear on my right knee. I consulted a doctor. Doc suggested me to have a surgery. When I had been to get a second opinion, the other doc advices to rest a knee for min 6 weeks and perform some exercises which he suggested and it should be fine. Will my condition get better without a surgery?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It may be due to ligament tear.

For further assessment you may require MRI knee after orthopedician consultation.

You may require surgical intervention after consultation.

Till then for pain you can take tablet acetaminophen.

Use knee cap.

Use support while walking.

Avoid step up and down.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr Shyam Kale
