Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Simponi contains golimumab, which reduces the effects of a substance in the body that can cause inflammation. The most common side effects were upper
respiratory tract infection, sepsis,
increased ALT and AST levels as a result of liver dysfunction, tuberculosis and anemia. The medication per say does not cause
kidney dysfunction.
Methotrexate is a cystotoxic drug, which interferes with the growth of certain cells of the body, especially cells that reproduce quickly. Commonly reported side effects of use of methotrexate include increased liver enzymes due to liver dysfunction and anaemia with leucopenia (decreased RBC and WBC count). Renal side effects include
renal insufficiency which is most commonly associated with high-dose intake.
In any case, since you are on these medications which are known to be associated with such side effects, constant monitoring of functioning of liver and kidneys, blood counts, along with prompt treatment of infections is necessary to avoid complications.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
All the best.
