Hello, Yes, low B12 levels can increase the risk and intensity of several psychiatric disorders. it is usually recommended now a days to get B12 levels determined at the start of treatment in psychiatric illnesses, and treat the same if found low. The treatment of low B12 can be done with simple oral supplements in form of multivitamins or in case of severe deficiency we may choose to give some injectable on weekly or biweekly basis. Treating this deficiency results in feeling of wellbeing and also helps the main drugs to show good results. so, if you are low on B12, treating the same will be wise. Consult your neurologist or GP about the same.
