Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My daughter is 6 yrs old. Body weight is 19 kg. She is having fever (mouth temp-102/103 F) for last two days. Earlier wee started with crocin Ds but it failed to reduce body temp. now we are giving meftal -P. It is effective but takes two hours for the fever to subside. Can we give Meftal P followed by Crocin DS after an interval of four hours?Kindly advise.
I would not recommend you to give both meftal-p and crocin ds to your child. They are both high dose drugs and should not be used at the same time since it can cause liver damage to your child.I would suggest you to give only only meftal p to your child during fever and repeat every 4 hours if required. In case fever, persist for more than 3 days,it is absolutely essential to take blood investigations to rule out any bacterial infections.Complete blood count, widal and peripheral smear should be taken for further management.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
