Does Missing Of A Contraceptive Pill Increase The Chances Of Pregnancy?

Hello, I have a question pertaining birth control. I spent the night over my grandparents house and didn t take the pill. The next day I had unprotected sex, but I took the two pills, to make up for the missed one and for the current day. He also pulled out. What are my chances of pregnancy and would that be considered late? Should I take 2 pills again tomorrow?? It s my second week of the pack

Hi,

If you are on the combined contraceptive pill in the second week of the pack and you miss a pill you are still protected against pregnancy. Since you have already taken the 'missing' pill along with the regular pill (i.e., two pills taken together) this will ensure adequate protection. There is no need to take two more pills tomorrow. Continue taking the rest of the pack as normal and take your 7-day pill-free break as normal.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
