Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hey! I'm 18, and have had a stuffed nose since friday, accompanied by a cough. However, the past two days have also brought on nausea, weakness, fever, aches and pains, and tonight, thirst. Could this just be a bad case of the flu? The last time I had this it was malaria; which isn't possible in the USA...right?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of nausea, fever and pains/aches, stuffy nose which is due to upper respiratory tract infection leading to common cold infection. Chances of malaria are less as then you will have high grade fever. Steam inhalation is very effective for you. Take diet rich in vitamin B12. I would suggest you to consult pulmonologist/ ENT specialist and get blood test done. You should take antibiotics along with decongestants and mucolytic agents. You should get an x ray of the chest and pulmonary function tests done as well. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods. You should take expectorants. You should use throat lozenges and go rinses with warm saline water. You should do tepid sponging if fever is of high intensity. Maintain basic hygiene to prevent any further infection.
Hope your concern has been resolved.
