I had to do undergo abortion while i was two month pregnant as the foetas did n't have heartbeet and then the doctor advised me to take Novelon tablet for a period of three months. I would like to know whether this tablet is used only to prevent pregnancy or any other significances are there? thanks

Novelon tablet is contraceptive drugs which contains Ethinyl Estradiol (from estrogen class) and Desogestrel (progesterone class). both of these female hormones are used for contraception. novelon works by inhibiting the ovulation.
beside as oral contraception or to prevent pregnancy, Novelon Tablet is also used for:
1. Painful menstruation (dysmenorrhea)
2. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding
3. Failure of ovarian development
4. post menopausal osteoporosis
5. Recurrent miscarriage (abortion)
6. other uses: puberty delay, polycystic ovarian syndrome, endometriosis, acne
I would like to suggest you that by using Novelon tablet, you should concern about conditions below:
1. avoid smoking because it can increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
2. stop using if there's vaginal bleeding, jaundice, severe migraine, visual problems.
3. consult to your local doctor if you have any other conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, family history of breast cancer, and thromboembolic disease, also if you feel any others side effects.
