Does Olive Oil Help In Removing Peripheral Wax From Ear?
I have one ear (the other has a drum hole). It has some peripheral wax. GP said to use olive oil. Usually ENT consultant removes hard stuff with aloop wire or mini suction. Olive oil b.d. 7 days will ? leave me more deaf with a residual coating of oil/wax on the drum. I wear a hearing aid. can you advise?
Olive oil is known to help soften and removal of wax. There are now other ear drops with wax loosening compounds along with Olive oil like Soliwax-O. Please instil as advised and get the wax cleaned well as you are using hearing aid. Some ENT would advise syringing also depending upon the quantity of wax, its place of coating, whether impacted or not.
Do not try removal at home. Complete removal of wax and regular follow up with Doctor can help you to have clean ear. Also, see for any nose, sinus or eustachian tube dysfunction as potential causes for wax in ear.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
