Does Penicillin Stop The Implant Birth Control From Working?

Hello, Im not sure if I m in very early stages of pregnancy. I seem to be having quite bit of vaginal discharge and i m getting backaches throughout the day and when I m in bed. I also seem alway hungry. I am on the implant but I took was on a 10 week course of penicillin for tonsilitis and I had intercourse whilst on the tablets and I m not sure if stopped the implant from working whilst I was taken them. Hope you can help.

Hi.
Penicillin has not shown to interfere with hormonal methods of birth control (presumingnyou have an intrauterine implant). The chances of pregnancy with an intrauterine device are also less likely, though not totally negative. However, there can be other complications like infection, bleeding, pelvic inflammatory disease, etc. which can occur. I suggest you take a urine pregnancy test if its 2 weeks after the intercourse and irrespective of the result you need to see a doctor for a pelvic exam and / or an ultrasound examination.
