I am a 48 year old female. Three weeks ago I had my first urinary tract infection. I took a weeks worth of Bactrum and went back to the doctor because I was still experiencing pain. She did another urine test which showed urine in the blood. She put me on a weeks worth of Cipro. I finished today but still uncomfortable. She said if my symptoms were not better I need to go get an ultrasound of the bladder/kidneys. But my question is ...Before I go through all these tests I was wondering if this could ever be pinworms. When I was a little girl I used to experience pinworms in the vagina. Is there any way this could be pinworms that have gotten out of control to cause blood in the urine and pain?

Does Pin Worms Cause Urinary Infection?
Hello, The pinworms do not habitat in the urinary tract so UTI is not possible through pinworms. There can be a possible issue of gonorrhea, chlamydia or other STD from vaginal intercourse rather than simple UTI. Urine culture with swab test from urethral discharge proves best for the final diagnosis and curative plan management. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
