Ihad a stillbirth at 23 weeks on may 7 2011, was hospitalized in march for vaginal bleeding...had blood clot of 6 cm reduced to 2 in may..I was on sustain 200. Was advised by my gynec to stop in April. I need to understand 1) whether this stillbirth is due to placental abruption,2) was it doctors mistake to stop the hormonal tab?3) how soon can I conceive again.. AM 34 years old now
Placenta is an organ which supplies nutrition, oxygen and hormones to the baby. when placental abruption takes place, baby is deprived of all these; in short, the baby gets suffocated and starved. hence, still birth is a common outcomes of placental abruption. The severity and acuteness depends upon the extent of placental separation.
Mostly, the doctor would have started you Sustain to salvage the baby in risk of death; however, when the baby succumbed inspite of the supportive treatment, he had to discontinue the medicine.
You should find out the cause behind placental abruption; it could be pregnancy induced hypertension, diabetes, etc. You should treat the cause to prevent recurrence of the accident. You can become pregnant in future.
I hope this helps you.
