Does Qtip Cause Bleeding?

Just woke up with a decently large pool (about twice the size of a quarter) of dried blood on my pillow. Should I be concerned? I used a qtip earlier this morning for the first time in awhile. Didn t notice unusual pain or bleeding all day. Also received a flu shot today from my doctor.

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

In reference to your query I would like to say that Q-tip should be use very cautiously in cleaning the ear as it may abrade the infected or ulcerated skin of external ear canal, some times perforations of ear drum are also reported by the ear cleaning with q-tip.

Any of the above situation will lead to bleeding from ear. In all these type of traumatic cases examination of ear is must to rule out perforation in ear drum. Because in traumatic perforation cases ear drop should not be used , as the use of ear drop in such cases may disturb the healing process.

I hope above had answered your query.

Regards.
