Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a MRI on my head yesterday. The eye Dr. saw something when I had a visual test a couple of weeks ago and she wanted me to have a MRI on my brain. I had the MRI yesterday and the Dr s nurse called today and said that the Dr. looked at the test and said everything was stable. My left ear is hurting today could that possibly be from the radiation from the MRI yesterday. Thank you for your help.
An MRI examination may cause loud noise and the patient is exposed to this loud noise during the time the MRI is done. Theoretically, this may cause a temporary feeling of fullness in the ear and mild hearing loss that should go away soon. Practically, patients tolerate the MRI examination quite well and earaches are not known as a side effect of MRI examination.
I believe your earache may be caused by something else. You may use ibuprofen to help with it and if it does not get better in 2-3 days or is any worse it is advisable to see your doctor.
I hope this answers your query and is helpful to you. I remain at your disposal in case further medical assistance is needed.
I wish you quick recovery and good health,
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General and Family physician
