Does Ramipril For Diabetes Cause Persistent Cough?

i have type 2 diabetes take metformin statin and ramipril. I have a very persistent cough which when looking on the internet it seems likely to have been caused by ramipril. 10mg per day. Is there another hbp medication that does not have this chronic cough association?

Hello
thanks for using health care magic

Ramipril belongs to a class of drugs known as angiotensin
converting enzyme inhibitors. Their main side efffect is cough
which is non purulent or dry.

You need to talk to your doctor about the persistent cough
so that he can confirm and replace the ramipril with a drug from
another class such as the sartans which function in the same way
as ramipril.

Hope this helps you.
Best regards
Dr Achuo
