I am 28 years old and my mother has dopa responsive dystonia. I have never noticed any symptoms of the disease and have been told that I am "normal". For the last few years I have been having restless leg syndrome, specifically when I sit or lie down for more than 10 minutes. Is this reason to get testing done to make sure that I don't have dystonia? Can I develop dystonia in adulthood even though my mother has had dopa responsive dystonia since age 5? She went un-diagnosed for almost 50 years so I have never had any actual testing done to see if I have it or not.
