Does Right Knee And Ankle Swelling Signify Clot With History Of Mini Stroke While On Heart Medication And Blood Thinner?
my mother has just had a mini stroke 5 weeks ago. she has been fine all through Christmas. She is on 2 different heart medications and blood thinners. This morning her right ankle has swollen and is quite red..as well as her right knee is swelling.....could this be a clot? Should I take her to emergency? Thankyou.
Hi I dont think that when anyone is on blood thinner and than also blood will clot....thats not true for sure. She might be having history of fall down or some vascular problem like varicose vein or kidney pathology causing swelling. Or blood thinner some times lead to some arteriolar rupture causing bleeding and swelling. Better to consult your family physician first. Grt well soon. Thank you.
