Does Rubbing Alcohol On Lips Cause Burning Sensation?

Can rubbing alcohol burn the skin of your lips? I recently used a paper towel dabbed with rubbing alcohol on my lips and put it in between my top and bottom lip. About 10 to 15 mins later I took it out and my lips were slightly swollen. The next day I woke up and they were really swollen.

Can understand your concern..

It seems that due to rubbing alcohol your lips have got irritated and has got an allergic reaction leading to inflammation and swelling..

In case you do not have any other symptoms other than swelling or a little burning and dryness of lips you need not to worry and you can just take anti-allergic tablet containing ant- histamine like benadryl or allegra..

In case of pain you can take painkiller with anti inflammatory action like Ibuprofen..

You can apply cold pack over the lips..

In case of burning steroid based ointments can provide relief..

In case you feel the dryness or chapping of lips coat them with some natural lubricants like alovera gel or coconut or olive oil..

Keep the lips pressure free..

Avoid spicy and sour food as it can irritate the lips..

Drink plenty of water to maintain hydration..
