Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

Usually, in most cases for the treatment to be effective, it needs at least 48-72 hours. Hence, in my opinion you should wait and continue it. Smoking is not directly related to UTI but can worsens your lung function specifically.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. Shailja Puri's  Response
Hello,

If UTI is not being cured with antibiotics, then it implies that the bacteria may be resistant to the antibiotics. I suggest you to get drug sensitivity test for the said bacteria.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
