Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
shortly after i was involved in an auto accident which caused the airbags to strike me in the face, i developed bell's palsy....i am a healthy 62 year old male with no other pre existing conditions e.g. diabetis, herpes etc.colud the airbags have caused the facila trauma which brought about the symptoms of bell's palsy?
thanks for your query, i have gone through your question, the facial nerve palsy could be secondary to or complication of viral infection like herpes virus, but it can also occur on exposure too cold, trauma to the face or base of the skull and pressure over the nerve by any tumor or damage to nerve during surgery involving parotid gland..in your case trauma to the face might have caused damage to facial nerve.. consult a neurophysician for further treatment...i hope my answer will help you..
