Does Taking Aspirin Along With Atorvastatin And Losartan Lead To Kidney Failure?

Thank you. On July 3rd I had kidney failure. At that time I was taking 325 mg aspirin, atorvastatin 80 mg, losartan 100mg, metformin 500 mg twice a day with meals, carvedilol 12.5 mg twice daily, and pioglitazone 15 mg, and hydrochlorothiazide 25mg. After my kidney failure, I was taken off 325 mg aspirin to 80mg, and the doctor had me stop taking the hydrochlorothiazide. I lost 3 units of blood and we are still trying to find out why. I was looking up side effects for the drugs, and believe that I should not be taking some of these, as they do not work well together. Do you think I am right? Is there a website that can tell me if I shouldn t be taking these together? I am afraid that this will happen to me. I did gain one unit of blood, and there is no eternal bleeding. I just started taking the losartan and carvedilol the first week of April.

Hi,

No. Atorvastatin is not associated with kidneys damage. Listen is a member of ARBs which has a kidney protective role. When there is a risk of renal damage, instead of Metformin, patient needs to be taken on appropriate insulin. It is not good for you to continue aspirin as you have developed a bleeding tendency.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care.
