Does Taking Aspirin Along With Obimin And Nifedipine Bring Down Blood Pressure During Pregnancy?
Hi,I am 11weeks pregnant with hypertension.Currently I am taking obimin for pregnancy nutrients n nifedipine 30mg n atenolol 25mg.Yesterday,my a house doctor at a hospital advised me to stop taking atenolol and prescribed me 100mg asprin to be taken together with my obimin n nifedipine of 30mg.Will the asprin still do a job in bringing down my high blood pressure like what atenolol had done all this while as I am just afraid that without consuming atenolol,my blodd pressure will not come down.

Hi.Thanks for writing on HCM. Beta blockers like atenolol are contra-indicated during pregnancy. Nifedipine can be safely used.Aspirin is NSAID and does not lower your blood pressure (cannot substitute atenolol) and is used only under physicians supervision (not used unless indicated) during pregnancy.I suggest to monitor your blood pressures regularly and discuss with your doctor during follow up if they are high.Hope this answers your query.
