Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had an intercourse on my last day of period. I am not regular with the activity. Hence I took an emergency morning pill(Escapelle) just to be safe a day after my period ended. My calendar also shows that my fertality week has just started. Today marks a week after I have taken the pill and I am having some bleeding. What does it mean?
We usually recommend taking the day after pill (Escapelle) as soon as having intravaginal intercourse/ejaculation, within 72 hours after sexual intercourse.
The light bleeding you are having is due to hormonal imbalance caused by Escapelle. I advise waiting until your due date. If it will delay, wait until the 10th day after your due date to take a pregnancy test to rest assure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
